And may I add a thought that might make it gel for some white people?

White people tend to view racism as a matter of individual virtue. A person is racist, or not. If I'm not racist, then I'm good, right?

No, our *society* is racist. White is normative and people of color are implicitly regarded as dangerous.

If you're not actively trying to change that, you're maintaining the system. Even if you're personally virtuous.

@JimG

'Whit people,' is a generalization. For example; I have blonde hair and blue eyes - yet half of my family is Creek. Just took after the German side of the family.

Your point is very valid, but can you define, 'white?'

@guerrillablack

@JimG @guerrillablack

Racial assimilation has made, 'white,' harder to define.

Here's origin of all, imho.

_A People's History of US_ points out antebellum South Carolina had more slaves than free people. Image the powder keg situation! It became about control, Black people were implicitly dangerous. Several centuries of that and control instincts persist. Also, white society's ethics were completely corroded. Cadre of ruling elite still fearful, still willing to maintain power, no compunction for ethics.

By the way, I was pushing right up to the 500 character limit so I sounded pretty terse. Hope it didn't sound hostile. I appreciate your messages.
